A rare and highly decorative 7-piece French Louis XVI style salon set, dating from circa 1940. This elegant and complete set includes one corbeille model sofa, four bergère easy chairs with cane sides, and two bergère easy chairs without cane sides.
The sofa is designed in the classic French corbeille form, with a beautifully curved silhouette and refined proportions. Together with the matching bergère chairs, it creates an impressive and harmonious salon arrangement, ideal for a grand living room, spacious foyer, boutique hotel, dressing room, or elegant interior project.
The handmade frames are crafted from beech wood and retain their original old pastel and green Trianon finish. The carved wooden frames are richly decorated with hand-carved floral motifs, scrollwork, and ornamental details. The original painted finish has developed a beautiful aged patina over time, giving the set depth, authenticity, and romantic French character.
The complete set has recently been professionally re-upholstered by a skilled team. The upholstery combines soft velvet with an elegant floral damask fabric. The sides of the sofa and chairs are finished in tufted velvet, while the backs are upholstered in a solid velvet style. The backrests and seat cushions feature a floral damask fabric made from a silk and cotton blend. The fabric was carefully selected to complement the pastel Trianon finish of the beech wood frames, creating a soft, luxurious, and beautifully balanced overall look.
Extra small decorative cushions have been added to the sofa, as shown in the photos. These cushions will be included with the set as a gift.
