An elegant French Marquis loveseat dating from the 1960s, featuring a beautifully carved solid beechwood frame, genuine gold leaf finish, soft beige velvet upholstery and a distinctive scenic back panel.
The sculptural frame is decorated with floral carvings, scrolling ornament and shell-inspired details characteristic of French Rococo Revival furniture. It has been professionally restored and recently re-gilded with genuine gold leaf, giving the decorative carving a rich and luminous appearance.
The seat, arms and lower back are upholstered in soft beige velvet with traditional button tufting. Professionally renewed padding provides comfortable and supportive seating while preserving the refined proportions of the piece.
The upper backrest features a romantic pastoral scene inspired by 19th-century French artwork. The image is transferred directly onto a high-quality silk-cotton blend fabric, creating an elegant decorative panel with a tapestry-like appearance.
