1840s–1860s French Louis XV Ormolu Bronze Clock & Candelabra Set
An exceptional 19th-century French Louis XV clock and candelabra set, dating from approximately the 1840s–1860s. This impressive antique ensemble consists of three matching pieces: one mantel clock and a pair of seven-arm candelabras.
Crafted from solid bronze with its original ormolu finish, the set displays the elaborate sculptural decoration and flowing asymmetry associated with French Louis XV and Rococo design.
The richly detailed bronze surfaces are decorated with scrolling foliage, flowers, cherubic figures and classical ornamentation. The original ormolu has developed a warm antique patina that beautifully emphasizes the depth and quality of the casting.
Mantel Clock
The clock forms the dramatic centerpiece of the set. Its sculptural case is decorated with cherubic figures holding a bird and flower, surrounded by elaborate Rococo scrollwork and floral details.
An ornamental urn crowns the composition, with decorative flowers and scrolling elements extending gracefully around the clock case.
The clock retains its original movement, which has been professionally checked and serviced by a clockmaker. It is currently in good working order.
Pair of Seven-Arm Candelabras
The matching candelabras are equally impressive, each supported by a finely cast child figure carrying the candle branches above the head.
Each candelabra features seven candle arms arranged among flowing branches, scrollwork and floral ornamentation. They remain traditional candleholders and have never been electrified, preserving their original antique character.
Together, the three pieces create an impressive and highly decorative ensemble suitable for a grand mantel, console table, sideboard, salon, dining room, library or entrance hall.
