Antique Table/Mantel/Shelf Clock Louis XVI

This is a beautiful antique French Louis XVI table/mantle clock pendulum. It was made from a heavy quality gilded alloy, in about 1860. It has a white enamel dial plate with numerals and works and chimes perfectly. Everything was checked by professional clock makers, the hour work was completely cleaned, oiled and checked professionally. It still has its original authentic gilded alloy work. It is fire gilded alloy and has its original gilded colours. It comes complete with the rewinding key, bell, pendulum (it is complete). The clock has an 8-day spring-driven movement with anchor escapement and silk suspended pendulum. It strikes the half hours and full hours on a bell with count wheel striking. Movement was signed on the back with‘ Medaille D'Argent, Vincenti, 1855’.
This clock is uniquely beautiful in that it combines true creative artistry with conventional figurine aesthetics. It has a multi-layered base, decorated with typically French ornaments and above it there is a bench and a lady figurine sitting on top of it. She is holding a masque in her hand, and the fabric of the typically 19th century dress as well as the hair of the figurine is really beautifully executed by the makers. The details on both the figures around the clock and its base really show the creator’s mastery of their craft. It is a truly eye-catching piece that, when put on for example a mantle or a dressoir, will capture anyone’s attention, despite some minor signs of wear due to its authenticity and age.
