🪞 French Louis XVI 19th C Mahogany Marble Commode Chest

🪵 Craftsmanship & Materials

The commode is made from solid mahogany, admired for its depth of color and enduring strength. The surface is further embellished with fruitwood marquetry inlays, forming elegant geometric and floral patterns on the drawer fronts and side panels — a technique associated with top-tier 19th-century French cabinetmakers.

The top is fitted with a polished green Italian marble slab, cut precisely to size and featuring natural veining that adds a luxurious contrast to the warmth of the wood.

There are four drawers in total: two smaller top drawers and two larger lower drawers, each fitted with gilt bronze handles. The drawer faces and corners are framed with ornate gilt bronze mounts, including classical motifs like acanthus leaves, scrolls, and rosettes.
