Vintage 1950 European Louis XVI Mahogany Bed Frame

An impressive European Louis XVI Revival bed frame dating to circa 1950, crafted from richly figured mahogany and enhanced with finely detailed gilt-bronze decoration.

The substantial proportions, elegant curves and classical ornamentation give the bed a grand architectural presence. Warm mahogany tones are beautifully contrasted by gold-tone floral garlands, medallions, scrolling motifs and other neoclassical details throughout the headboard and footboard.

Hand-Painted Footboard Scene

At the centre of the footboard is a decorative oval panel featuring a romantic pastoral scene hand-painted in oil.

The composition depicts elegantly dressed figures resting within a peaceful wooded landscape, surrounded by greenery, water and atmospheric scenery. Soft colours and detailed brushwork create a traditional European appearance and provide a refined contrast to the deep mahogany.

The painting is individually hand-painted rather than printed, giving the bed additional artistic character and decorative value. The scene is framed by gilt-bronze floral ornamentation and forms a beautiful focal point of the design.
