This is a beautiful French sofa in the Louis XVI style.
It is very sturdy and ready to be used on a day-to-day basis. This is a two-person sofa.
The gold leaf on the frame is in a very good condition. The cushions are filled very nicely for comfortable seating. This beautiful item can be used in a hallway, in the bedroom, in a living room, anywhere it will form the highlight and eye-catcher of the room. The decorative carving work was all done hand-made and looks very nicely detailed.
The measurements are about: 160 cm wide x 59 cm deep x 114 cm high from the ground to the top (seating height ground to seating is 50 cm. This translates to roughly 63 inch wide x 23 inch deep x 44.9 inch high (ground to top, seating height is roughly 19.7 inch).
Both the back leaning area as well as the sides have been decorated with tufted capitonnee style buttons in the fabric, that make the extra chique-looking folds in the material. The form of the wooden frame is also quite iconic in that it is curvy-- typical for the Louis XVI style.
The fabric is a very nice high-quality silk with cotton and was decorated with beautiful flowery patterns.
