We hereby present you with a very beautiful French Empire clock. It is antique, from about 1810, and it is originally a table/mantel clock. It was made from gilded bronze and it still has its original 24-carat fire gilded bronze and marble, of very heavy quality. The bronze has been professionally cleaned. The hour work was professionally cleaned and checked by professional clock makers and it is a true eye-catcher. This clock has an 8-day spring driven movement. It strikes every half and full hour. It comes complete with its pendulum, re-winding key and bell. It comes with everything. The dial was made from enamel and has roman numerals on it. It was very richly decorated as well.
The clock itself comes on top of a very richly decorated marble base with a fantastically interesting relief around the next layer. On top of this base, we find a large female figurine and a baby. According to the well-known clock book ‘Encyclopédie de la Pendule Française du Moyen Age au XXe siècle’ written by Pierre Kjellberg, on page number 390, this clock model is named : " Les premiers Pas de L'enfants" represents the first steps of the baby as observed by the mother. This really gives the clock an emotional layer as well.
The quality of the clock maker can really be observed when looking at the faces of these figurines and the relief of the base, where many figures and flowery motives can be observed. The lively way in which the robes on the left figure fall, the details that decorate even dog laying down: all signs of truly breath-taking artistry. Even the way in which the fabric falls is very realistic. This is a very vivid and lively scenery that makes you not want to take your eyes off. It is a very interesting and unique model, which also makes it a very nice item for collectors.
This clock will be a beautiful eye-catcher in any room or place that it is put in. It is a very fine quality piece of art.
The measurements of the clock are about: 42 cm high x 33 cm wide x 12 cm deep. This is in inch about: 16.5 x 13 x 4 inch.
