This is a beautiful antique French Empire table/mantle clock pendulum. It was made from gilded bronze, in about 1810. It has a white enamel dial plate with roman numerals and works and chimes perfectly. Everything was checked and cleaned by professional clock makers. It still has its original authentic gilded bronze work, it has only been cleaned. It is 24 carat gold, fire gilded bronze and looks like a jewel. The clock works for 8 days on a row with a string suspension of the pendulum. It comes complete with the rewinding key, bell and the pendulum. It chimes every half and full hour.
This clock is uniquely beautiful in that it combines true creative artistry with conventional figurine aesthetics. It has a multi-layered base, decorated with typically French ornaments and birds. On these bases is where the actual hour work and dial are, on top of which a beautifully decorated figurine of a lady and a dog are to be found, playing in what seems to be a site of nature. The lady figure is carrying a mirror and the dog is jumping up on top of the clock in a very vividly lively manner.
The hair of both the dog as well as the lady figurine really show the creator’s mastery of their craft.
The dial was signed by the French clock maker Perrin, à Paris.
The measurements are about:
41 cm high - 16 inch high
31 cm wide - 12 inch wide
11 cm deep - 4 inch deep
